Day 3 - Taichung (27 Sep 2014)

Yes, we are still in Taichung.

And today we went to Houfeng Bikeway (后豐鐵馬道) to cycle. We drove for around 45 minutes.

We went to this bikeshop called Lavender Bikeshop to rent the electric tendon bicyle because I do not know how to cycle. So Mr Lee gonna lobang me at his back. :p

The rental is around NT500 for unlimited hours. It is so much cheaper as compared to East Coast Park.

And luckily we have rented an electric bike because there are many slopes along our way. I don't think I will cycle for so far without this electric bike.

We started by cycling to DongFeng Bikeway first.

It's not easy to take photo while cycling.

And we stopped at the lover's bridge for a photo. Taiwanese are very friendly. Initially, Mr Lee is trying to take a photo of me, then this sweet lady offered to take a photo for us.

And we realised that there is another lover's bridge after taking the above photo.

So I think one bridge is for cycling while the another one is for dating.

At Dongfeng Bikeway, there are more trees.  On the day we went, it is quite crowded because it is on a weekend so a lot of young people are cycling too.

This is the Shihgang Dam (石岡壩) which is to control the flood around Fengyuan District.

From the bike rental shop to Dong Feng takes around 1.5 hour. So we cycled back to the bike rental shop to change the bike battery and continue to cycle to Houfeng.

After this bridge, we reached the entrance of the tunnel. It's my first time cycling into a tunnel.

And it is very cooling when we cycled into the tunnel. Because it is the mountain tunnel, so I guess that's why it is cooling. The feeling is damn shiok when we can feel the wind blowing against our face.

From the bikeshop to Houfeng is also another 1.5 hour. On our way back, we stopped at the dessert store for 雪花冰. I need some cold stuff for this hot weather.

So after our trip to Houfeng Bikeway, we drove to the Lavender Cottage which is at Xinshe District. The driving is around 2 hours because of the winding road. The road is very steep and I was quite worried all the way when Mr Lee started the mountain road drive.

And after 2 hours, we have reached this place.

Mr Lee doesn't appreciate this place because he has no interest in flowers. Haha!

The wishing leaves.

Surprisingly there are many people visiting this ulu place. The road is very steep, winding and it's a freaking one way lane. So all drivers must have 礼让精神 to take turn to either drive up or drive down.

Even the baby diaper changing room is also nicely decorated with purple theme.

The lavender cottage closed at 6pm. We reached there around 330pm. Initially, we thought we don't have much time to walk around. End up it only took us 1 hour to walk around the whole area.

On our way back to Taichung city, we stopped at this mushroom cafe for some bites.

All their foods are related with mushrooms and surpringly it tastes yummy. Mr Lee also tried the taiwanese sausage with mushroom and it is yummy too.

It took us around 1.5 hour to drive back to Taichung city. We went to this place that is famous for their ice-cream and Taiwanese 土产.

We had a hard time to find this place using our GPS.

We chose the waffle cup with 3 favours of ice-cream and 3 different toppings (pineapple tart, love letters and cheesecakes). Guess the price? It is only NT270. I told Mr Lee this kind of ice-cream in SG is already more than SGD15.

Initially, when I told Mr Lee that I wanna come to this place, he thought it is some lao po kai, taiwanese traditional shop.

He didn't expect the shop turns out to be like this.

It is so nicely decorated selling pineapple tarts & 太阳饼.

This is how we have spent our days in Taichung. Next day, we gonna take the High Speed Train from Taichung to Taipei.
